礦田位于務(wù)川汞礦帶的中部,受北北東向木油廠背斜構(gòu)造的控制。礦田由南北兩段的礦床所組成:北段包括蓬巖、嶺旗山、白洋面和水幅4個(gè)礦床;南段包括三家田、小岬口及茅坪頭3個(gè)礦床。
礦田范圍內(nèi)出露地層為寒武系(圖3.15.3),汞礦化見于寒武系中、下統(tǒng),礦化厚度達(dá)800多m,但較穩(wěn)定的礦化和工業(yè)礦體只見于由C—1q2-2到C—2g3厚300余m的碳酸鹽巖巖中。礦體沿背斜軸分布、富集。主礦層產(chǎn)于C—1q3-2頂部,礦層連續(xù)而穩(wěn)定,礦層沿軸長達(dá)4000多m,寬幾百m,嚴(yán)格地受背斜軸部控制。在平面上隨軸向彎曲而彎曲(圖3.15.3)。圍巖蝕變以方解石化為特點(diǎn)、硅化次之。礦石組成較簡單,礦石礦物主要是辰砂,有少量輝銻礦、閃鋅礦,偶見雄黃、方鉛礦、輝銅礦等。礦石工業(yè)類型以碳酸巖單汞辰砂礦石為主。礦石平均品位含汞0.147%。礦床類型屬碳酸鹽巖型層控層狀汞礦床。
